Finlay Cowan included this picture in his book, Drawing and Painting Fantasy Figures, Copyright 2003 Quarto Inc. on page 105 from the chapter, "Painting, Inking, and Digital Art," with this description:

"Fades, textures, clouds, foliage, and cloth are all used to great effect in this surrealistic image created for the cover of a fantasy book."

I used Bryce 3D to create and plan the landscape, window, characters, lighting, shadow physics, etc.  Scanned drawings of clothing, faces, objects used with Photo Paint 8 for finishing.  Some tree textures from some of my own local photos.

About the author:  Richard J.
