             The Lion Queen

Finlay Cowan included this picture in his book, Drawing and Painting Fantasy Figures, Copyright 2003 Quarto Inc. on page 110 from the chapter, "Painting, Inking, and Digital Art," with this description:

"Luebbert often uses digital compositions as the basis for his oil paintings, while the digital images themselves are a tour de force of the techniques available.  Bryce, Poser, PhotoPaint, and ZBrush were all used in the creation of this image."

Inspiration from my wife, Karen, who modeled as the "Queen."  Lots of Bryce 3D rendering.  Afterwards, finished with scanned pencil drawings and PhotoPaint with the trusty stylus and tablet.  Finished painting is below the digital image below.  Interestingly, the digital sketch contains much more detail than the painting, which is only 16 by 20 inches.
